Year 12 South Auckland school students from 8 schools from the AIMHI network were inspired and challenged at the Antarctic Heritage Trust Explorer Conference held at Manukau’s Due Drop Events Centre on 11 June. Keynote speakers Faumuina Felolini Maria Tafuna’i and William Pike encouraged students with their stories of personal exploration. Inspiring Explorer alumni then ran interactive workshops that challenged students to think about how they might develop their ‘explorer mindset’ – using traits of curiosity, resilience, teamwork, innovation and leadership. Students stepped outside their comfort zones with whitewater rafting sessions at Wero Whitewater Park.
