2016-17 Hillary's TAE/IGY hut, Cooker and cooker hood flues, prior to removal and repair

The TAE hut had six flues mounted on the roof and three wall mounted air handler flues. These were all in various stages of decay and were possible sources of snow and water ingress into the hut. All flues were carefully removed and their apertures covered immediately using plywood covers with expanding foam gasket to ensure no environmental contamination from the asbestos lining of the hut. The flues were all labelled and carefully packed in cubas prior to air freighting to New Zealand for repair and painting. The original mounting holes were re-utilised to secure the repaired flues where ever possible.
