2009-10 Summer. Stables interior with North wall historic cladding and contemporary materials removed, Scott's Terra Nova hut, Cape Evans.

Part of the Stables rehabilitation involved rebuilding the North wall in a multi-step process. First, various layers of contemporary materials and historic cladding were removed. The wall was then sheathed in plywood and a layer of hessian material installed to conceal the plywood from the interior. A trench was dug 500mm below ground level and then polycarbonate sheeting was installed to the bottom of the trench and approximately 100mm up the wall. 1m bands of weatherproofing materials were installed in weatherboard fashion above that, to the top of the wall. Finally, the wall was covered in canvas and re-clad in new feather edge Scots Pine and heroic era cladding.
