2004-05 Scott's 'Discovery' hut Vince's Cross

2004-05 Conservation season at Scott's Discovery hut at Hut Point, exterior. One the highest point at the extremity of Hut Point stands the memorial cross to George Vince RN. Vince died in an accident on 11 March 1902, attempting to return to the ship from a sledging expedition during a storm. The conservation plan for Scott's hut was written by the Antarctic Heritage Trust in 2003 and the focus was on maintenance, repair and restoration to reflect the huts major period of occupation. As recommended in the plan, a photographic record of the artefacts in and around the hut was initiated to provide a datum for future artefact monitoring and conservation.
