DescriptionAntarctic Heritage Trust's Public Engagement Officer, Sarah Bouckoms helping visitors to The Hermitage Hotel engage with the Hillary’s Hut - Antarctica Virtual Reality Experience inside the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre. The Hermitage is located within the Mount Cook National Park, a special place for Sir Ed as his training ground for both his Everest and Antarctic Expeditions. Antarctic Heritage Trust toured the Hillary’s Hut - Antarctica Virtual Reality Experience around schools and community venues across New Zealand from December 2020 to December 2021. The virtual reality experience was developed in partnership with Auckland University of Technology (AUT) and allows participants to step inside Sir Ed’s Antarctic hut and find out what life was like living in the world’s most extreme environment for Sir Ed’s party of 23 men.
